Team Racing

Team racing is quite different from fleet racing. It is very dynamic! On a regular racing day, you compete against various other universities with your team. Teams are made of 6 people, 3 boats, and instead of racing every other team at once, teams race against one another, in short, 10 minute races.

The objective is to have less points than the enemy team. For instance, if the boats in your team get a 2nd, 3rd and 4th place, that would score you 2+3+4=10 points which is a winning combination against the 1+5+6=13 of the other team. Often, even if you are the first boat in the race, it is necessary for you to turn around, and sail towards the enemy boats to try to slow them down (by using the priority rules to your advantage) to let your own boats go through. It can get very intense, which makes it very fun!

I recommend watching the following video to get a taste of what it is like:

We normally train once a week on a Wednesday, trials will be held soon after Term 1 starts, if you're interested make sure you're following our social media!
